Liberty, together with the Georgian financial sector, this year too has traditionally joined the global initiative - "Ring the Bell for Gender Equality", which was organized by the UN Women.

It is the seventh time that the event has been held in Georgia and was dedicated to increasing access to finance and investments for women entrepreneurs.

In promoting women's entrepreneurship, consideration of gender peculiarities can play an important role. Unfortunately, in the process of access to finance, women in Georgia face various barriers, which prevent them not only from starting or developing business activities but also from making their own contribution to improving the lives of communities, creating jobs, reducing poverty, and developing the economy of the country as a whole.

"I am glad that we participated in the annual event of UN Women - "Ring the Bell for Gender Equality". Liberty is one of the first organizations in Georgia to join the UN Women Empowerment Principles. I believe that the economic empowerment of women directly is reflected in the improvement of the GDP index of the country. This means that the role of women is very important in the development of the economy of the country. For the economic empowerment of women, Liberty invests in such initiatives that ensure the promotion of education and raising financial literacy for women.” - Vato Babunashvili, Deputy CEO of Liberty, Financial Director.

Kaori Ishikawa, representative of UN Women in Georgia, Ivana Fernandez Duarte, IFC regional manager in the South Caucasus, Bergliot Hovland, ambassador of Norway to Georgia, Nino Kurdiani, acting director of the Georgian Stock Exchange, representatives of the international and local financial sector and members of business associations participated in the event.

The initiative is part of the Economic Empowerment of Women component of the project "Good Governance for Gender Equality in Georgia", which is implemented with the support of the government of Norway.
